McPherson Scottish Festival 2014

Last Saturday Cady and Madeline competed at their first dance competition at the McPherson Scottish Festival, and they did so well! Each placed in all their dances, and Cady got third in her class for Fling while Madeline got second in her class, which means they each have a stamp on their card! I'm so proud of how they performed. Looking forward to the next competition!

SCOTFEST 2014

What a weekend! SCOTFEST 2014 was our best festival yet.

Adding each individual dancer's dances up, we performed 136 dances within 30 hours. Four of us got to perform with one of our favorite Celtic rock bands —Celtica! These girls are definitely rock stars when it comes to performance. Not only were they flexible about getting up onstage with a group they'd never met before, they were able to jump right in and dance to songs they'd never heard before. I'm so proud of them! It's easy to forget that none of them (besides Lauren and I) have danced for more than a year. They all performed like pros!

We would like to thank:
- Steve Campbell and the rest of the SCOTFEST staff for making this festival possible.
- Bruce Robertson for providing wonderful live piping for us!
- Shaun Ladymon for setting up and running the dance tent all weekend, building 2 rolling stages for us, remixing songs, and recording narration.
- Celtica, Wicked Tinkers, and Flowers of Edinburgh for allowing us to dance with them!
- Our dancers' parents for sewing costumes, doing hair, playing chauffeur, helping pack up, and giving up their weekend to help make SCOTFEST awesome!
- Pat Venable for sewing costumes for us.
- Broken Arrow Dance's Celtic Pride, All About Irish, Muggivan School of Irish Dance, and Goode Academy of Irish Dance for sharing the stage with us.
- Everyone who came to watch us during the festival!

Check out our online store!

We now have our own online store! If you're interested in clothing and accessories with our logo OR Highland dancewear, check it out!

How it works: We do not keep ANY of these items in stock at the studio. Orders go directly to Spreadshirt, who prints the order, sends it to you, then kicks back a commission to us.

With Spreadshirt, you have a lot of choices! Not only do we have a couple different designs to choose from (with several more coming soon), you can also choose what color shirt, bag, or water bottle you order!

Check out a few of the items we currently have available!

Throwback Thursday!

It's Throwback Thursday! I've been rifling through old photos, and although I have yet to find where I stashed most of my "good" photos, I wanted to share a few I found!

My instructor, Betty Lawrence, and I after a competition in Denver.

Dancing at the Dale Robertson Center at age 13 (I think). And now I teach there!

Competing at the Oklahoma Scottish Games and Gathering (now SCOTFEST) at age 15.
